The Phongsavanh Foundation was established to help minimise poverty, raise living standards and promote education, health care and sound family values in the poorest areas of Laos PDR. This is achieved through a variety of means including disaster relief aid, community building programmes, improvement of infrastructure in schools and the development of new curricula, farm productivity training and emergency medical services.
The Phongsavanh Family have, since inception, been the sole benefactors of the Foundation’s many programmes which are executed both by dedicated management and operations teams as well as volunteer help – local and foreign. The over-arching objective of the Foundation is to provide Laos communities targetted for help with a fresh sense of identity and hope combined with the tools and opportunities required for them to take responsibility for the improvement of their own livelihoods and that of future generations to come.
However, as the Foundation extends its reach and programs and projects increase over time, external funding will become essential for medium to longer term sustainability. For this reason, the Foundation will need to rely on the generosity of benefactors from around the world. Fund raising drives will be a necessity. A “100% benefit to the community” donation policy has been put in place to encourage donations to be made. This protocol will ensure that funds donated by benefactors are segregated from the Foundation’s Operational account and will go wholly to benefitting the communities in Laos that the Foundation exists to serve.
